STATEMENT | Delta Chamber of Commerce Congratulates Mayor George Harvie on His Election as Metro Vancouver 2023 Board Chair
November 25, 2022, Delta | During this morning’s Metro Vancouver Regional District inaugural meeting of its recently elected member representatives, which was opened by an address from Tsawwassen First Nation, Delta Mayor George Harvie was elected to the position of Board Chair.

On behalf of its membership, the Delta Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors congratulates Mayor Harvie on his election to this position. Chamber Board Chair Rosanne Horner remarked that “Delta is a hub for trade and commerce – we offer farmland, manufacturing and industrial lands, shops and services, an international border, an international shipping port, a regional airport, urban centres, and the trucks that move the goods amongst them all. Mayor Harvie has experience navigating the strengths and complexities of all these different factors, and we look forward to him bringing his expertise to this role at Metro Vancouver.”
Delta Chamber Executive Director Jill McKnight added that “Mayor Harvie knows the importance of working together with different parties to find innovative solutions. This is the kind of thinking that business leaders understand and that we are excited to see presiding at the Metro Vancouver board.”
