After two years of trial, the Delta Chamber of Commerce is switching back to a system of membership billing based on a calendar year. This will affect those members who joined in the past two years for a 12-month period and will be renewing on an anniversary date other than January 1st.
For the majority of members continuing with their memberships which began more than two years ago, you will be receiving as usual invoices in November or December for renewal as of January 1, 2011.
That means the Delta Chamber will invoice renewals or new memberships due in the September to December 2010 period based on the time remaining in the 2010 year. For instance, a renewal due as of September leaves four months left in the calendar year, or one third of a year, so the fee would be 1/3 of the normal fee payable for a full 12 months.
So, if your company’s membership invoicing is subject to change, you will be receiving two membership renewal notices within a month or so of each other: a membership renewal invoice now and another in late November or early December for the coming full year of 2011.
This change away from the 12-month membership, starting at any time of the year, to the pro-rated new membership and single annual renewal period, will continue through August 2011 period until all members are switched to the new calendar year system.
The change back to the previous system of calendar year membership period is based on the experience of additional staff time required to process memberships during the year – ultimately a cost to the member.
